There are many great books on the market that help lead people through these complex computer creatures. There are so many books that it can be hard to know which are the best. Below is a list of some of the best books on the market.
The Robin Williams OS X Book: Buy
830pgs.
Panther Edition. Robin Williams has been writing about the Mac for a good many years. She has now released a Panther version of her Mac OS X Book and it is a very detailed, helpful manual that every Mac user will find useful. Don't let the size of this book scare you, it is just very clearly detailed. Robin covers not just the basics of using a Mac under Mac OS X--printing, sending e-mail, exchanging files, surfing the Internet--but all of the important new and improved features as well: working with Panther's all-new Finder, using Expose to work with windows, Safari and more.
The Little Mac Book: Buy

208pgs.

A Smaller Book. Don't want the highly detailed information included in the Robin Williams OS X Book? Grab a copy of the Little Mac Book. The Little Mac Book contains much of the information included in the larger OS X Book above, but in a much more concise manner. Definitely not as detailed, many still find it very useful and a bunch more help than no book at all. It is also easier to carry (wink). I have recommended this book to many clients and all have found it educational.

The Missing Manual Series

The Missing Manual Series is probably the premier series of books for the Mac. There are books for Panther, books for iMovie, books for iPhoto. If you are interested in any of the applications below, check out the Missing Manual for it. You'll be glad you did.
Missing Manuals for:
Panther, iMovie & iDVD, iPhoto, iLife '04, GarageBand, iTunes & iPod, Switching To The Mac, AppleWorks 6
Free Download: iLife '04 Mini Manual
Inside .Mac: Buy

400pgs.

.Mac How-To. I am frequently asked "What is .Mac?" Yes, .Mac is a bit hard to explain, but only because it can do so much. We've got virus protection, backup software, email addresses, calendar publishing and tons tons more. This book will help outline much of the power built into .Mac and will help you make better use of Apple's wonderful suite of internet tools. I use many .Mac tools each and every day and couldn't live without these tools anymore. My life is easier, better protected and enhanced because of this $99 per year service.
The Macintosh iLife: Buy

288pgs.

Book and DVD! This book has been getting some really great press lately. Along with a completely up-to-date book on iLife '04, (Apple's suite of multimedia applications) this book comes with a DVD that includes 2 hours of detailed instructional information! The book and DVD include info on all of Apple's iLife programs: iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD and Garageband. The DVD is a great addition. With the DVD you can watch, pause and then go try out the techniques!
Photoshop Elements 2 & 3 Solutions: The Art of Digital Photography: Buy Version 2 - Buy Version 3

304pgs.

Learn TONS of photo editing tricks! I really like this book because of its step by step take on many different photo editing tricks. Removing powerlines, getting better outside shots, changing colors, removing glares on glasses, etc.
One word of caution. Although this book is a great second step to managing your photos and extending your knowledge of Photoshop Elements, don't get this book if you are a complete novice. The Art of Digital Photography makes the assumption you know about selecting items, using layers, etc. If you need to start from the VERY beginning, see Photoshop Elements: Zero to Hero then step up to The Art of Digital Photography. Both are great books.
