Airport Extreme (or 802.11g) enables you to surf the web, email, print, instant message and more, without a wire. You can sit on your couch and connect to the internet, no cables needed. To make this work you do need a base station (a device that can transmit a signal over the air, which your computer then receives) and an Airport card. Below are some excellent items.
LinkSys Wireless G Broadband Router: Buy
A Wireless Base Station. This is the base station I use to broadcast my high speed internet signal. Both of my computers connect to it for internet access (up to 50 computers), up to 150ft. away. Administering the Linksys is easier than many wireless routers, but not as easy as Apple's Airport Base station. The reason I like the Linksys is its price - under $70.
Apple Airport Extreme Base Station: Buy

Apple's Wireless Base Station. Most everyone who wants a wireless network in their home has high speed internet, but with Apple's base station dial-up users can use wireless too. For those people who want Apple's ease-of-use then the Apple base station is for you. This Apple base station has a USB port for connecting and sharing a USB printer wirelessly, an integrated modem (for dialing-up wirelessly) and an antenna port for extending the range of your wireless signal. Plus, isn't this base station beautiful!

Airport Extreme Card: Buy
Add Airport to Your Computer. If your computer didn't come with Airport installed, you can add it very simply. This little card is inserted into your computer's open Airport card slot and voila, you have wireless capabilities. If you have an older computer that does not have Airport Extreme, you may still be able to add Airport to your computer. Ask me if you can, if you aren't sure.
Airport Express: Buy
Wireless Music. I have one of these beauties and I love it! It is one of my favorite pieces of Apple gear. Apple is going to sell a ton of these. Not sure what Airport Express is? Well for starters you can use it to stream your iTunes music from your office, or wherever your computer is, to any stereo in your house. No, it isn't an FM transmitter, it is real digital wireless audio streaming. You can also use the Airport Express to print wirelessly. You can even bring it with you on a trip and plug into a high speed internet connection for instant wireless! Note: Wireless base station required (about $60).
