There are a few applications I use a lot and that I am 100% in love with. I recommend everyone download and make use of them. Of course, my tastes in computer technology may vary from yours, but it's good to share right?
Addressix: http://www.a-sharp.com - $13
Print Envelopes Easily. Okay, so this is the story. Printing envelopes on a computer has never been an easy task. Each program handles envelope printing slightly different than the other. In order to figure out how to print envelopes in a given program, you have to search the help or go through the book. I feel it is much easier to print envelopes from a program specifically designed for printing envelopes - and nothing else! So, here comes my favorite envelope printing software, Addressix. Addressix integrates with the OS X Address Book, has support for many different envelope sizes, is easy to tweak and inexpensive!
iMSafe: homepage.mac.com/sweetcocoa - $19
Backup With Ease. iMSafe is a terrific piece of shareware. Its second version is currently in developement and available in the form of a Public Beta (which will be free to use until September 1st '04). The final version will only be $19 and available before the beta's expiration date. iMSafe is the epitome of simple backup software. You create a new backup task, select a source to backup and then select a destination. Your destination can be a CD, a DVD, a location online, an external hard drive or an iPod. Panther(10.3) only!
LaunchBar: http://www.obdev.at - $20
Computer File & Folder Navigation. I consider Launchbar a somewhat advanced piece of shareware because it requires your knowing where your files are and the names of files/folders and programs on your computer. If you do have a fairly solid sense of these things then you need LaunchBar. LaunchBar lets you open files, folders, programs, iTunes music, iPhoto libraries, search google, look up addresses and tons more - all by typing 2 or 3 keys on your keyboard. LaunchBar is truly a revolutionary program. I use it without even thinking. A must have!
Macaroni: http://www.atomicbird.com - $9
Automate OS X Maintenance. Macaroni can be a hard to explain to the Novice OS X user, so I'll try to say this simply. OS X has built-in maintenance tasks that help keep the system in optimal condition. Due to the nature of OS X, these maintenance tasks are set to run during the middle of the night when no one is using the computer. The problem is, if your computer is shut down or sleeping in the middle of the night then the tasks never run. Macaroni tells your computer when the tasks are needing to be run and then runs them automatically during any time of day. This way your system has fewer chances to become the bloated, troublesome machine you would loathe. Macaroni is a MUST HAVE!
