FTP Ease. Whenever I work on a website I have to upload the files I create to a server that sends them out to the internet. The program I use to upload those files is Transmit by Panic Software. It is truly the easiest to use, most attractive Macintosh FTP application there is, and carries a reasonable price tag. I personally love the synchronize feature. Locate a folder on your computer, locate a folder on the remote server, click Synchronize and all the files from your computer will be transferred to the remote server. Make changes to a couple files on your computer, click synchronize again and only those files you changed will be uploaded. Priceless and a great time saver. There are other FTP programs that do the same things but not as elegantly as Transmit. If you need FTP capabilities, grab this software.

Exceptional Disk Repair. Occasionally our computers "burp", requiring tools that are specifically made to repair hard drive problems. The most respected disk repair utility is Disk Warrior. Forget Norton, forget Techtool, grab Diskwarrior. Disk Warrior is able to repair many problems that Disk Utility, included with every Mac might not be able to. I believe it is a great idea for every Mac user to have a repair utility like Disk Warrior. Of course, if you don't have one and have problems, you can always contact me. You won't use it until you need it, but preparing for the possibility is a good idea.

Burn CDs and More. The CD recording software that comes with every Mac is truly excellent, but it can't do everything. Virus Protection. I recommend Norton AntiVirus to those people who don't want to purchase .Mac. Apple's .Mac service includes virus protection (Virex) that is yours to keep when you subscribe to the .Mac service. Norton AntiVirus is more than capable of keeping you safe from that rogue virus that might reveal itself. I have gone years without virus protection because as a Mac user we are less likely to have viruses created for our platform. However, there is nothing wrong with protecting yourself from the possibility.
